Getting Around Bangkok

Skytrain and Bankok Metro

Skytrain have two railway lines: one from the northern bus terminal at Mo-chit to Sukhumvit Soi 77(On-nut).  The other runs from the National Stadium(Near Ma-Boon-Krong) to Taksin Bridge at the end of Sathorn Road(Chao Pra Ya River).  The intersection station of these two lines locate in Siam Center Station where passengers can switch between lines. Fare starts from 15 baht to 40 baht per trip.

Bangkok Metro runs from Bang Sue Railway Station to Hua Lum Pong Railway Station.  Linking several popular places such as Chatuchak Market, Silom, Sukhumvit and Thailand Cultural Center (Ratchadapisek Road). Fare starts from 14 baht to 40 baht per trip.

Taxi are available almost everywhere, especially in busy area or shopping malls.  The flagdown rate is 35 baht plus 2 baht per kilometer traveled. (Price can go dearer in heavy traffic.

Motorcycle Taxi is a new form of transport which provides a faster way during peak traffic hours.  They can be found almost every corner of busy streets in Bangkok. Fare starts from 10 - 20 baht upward (negotiable)

Tuk-Tuk is an old fashioned mode of transport that's unique to Thailand.  The three-wheeled, open-air tuk tuk can be found in the center of Bangkok and in tourist places. Rate is usually negotiated from 30 baht upward.  Short distance travel is more enjoyable.

Buses network within the metropolis is very efficient and economical.  It is the cheapest way to tour the city. Fare starts from 8 baht for ordinary bus and 12 baht for air-conditioning bus.  Airport buses to several destinations in the city is 100 baht.

River boats (Taxi) established along Chao Phraya River to nearby provinces, or through the intricate canal system in the city. Fare depends on route and distance. The are several piers that locate right in the middle of tourist attractions; The Grand Palace, Kao Sarn Road etc.  There are tourist boats running  along Chao Phraya River during the day both weekdays and weekends. Fare for the whole day is 100 baht.  Long tailed boats could be hired for special river tours.
